GUIDE BOOK REVIEWS
"La Estancia ranks as one of the finest proper B&Bs in Panama. Visitors who want to stay out of the hubbub of the city will find peace and tranquility here in a leafy lane in the upper foothills of Cerro Ancon (5 minutes from Albrook Airport) with superb views of the Bridge of the Americas. Expect to see monkeys, umpteen birds, sloth and agouti in the surrounding vegetation. Cool and airy, stylish rooms are well equipped (some with balconies) and there's a laundry room, grand piano, reading room and free internet use for guests. Tours, transfers and onward tickets can also be organized."—Bradt Guide to Panama

"Set in the lush forest atop Cerro Ancon (Ancon Hill), La Estancia is one of Panama City's most charming B&Bs. Simple air con rooms are elegantly furnished, some with views of the Bridge of the Americas, others with views of the quiet lane in front, and all have hot-water bathrooms. The two spacious suites are top-notch and worth the extra money. Each has a complete kitchen, private patio, flat-screen TV and lots of space. Breakfasts are excellent here, best enjoyed on the patio. La Estancia is no longer a secret, so book as far in advance as possible."—Author's Choice: Lonely Planet Panama Guide Book [click here for latest listing]

"La Estancia's warm exterior is the color of a delectable tropical papaya, and inside it's as cool and comforting as a refreshing breeze. This lovely place "with rooms and apartments for nature lovers," despite the distractions of scolding toucans, curious monkeys, a couple of nosy iguanas and visiting sloth. Only minutes from downtown's bustle, La Estancia's forested Ancon Hill location blesses it with cool breezes, fantastic views and an abundant wildlife population. There's a happily gurgling little fountain in the lobby, gorgeous."—Hunter Travel Guides
